The problem with finding businesses you can trust
When you need a plumber, an accountant, or any local service, what do you do? You Google it. The top results are paid ads. You check reviews - are they real or fake? You ask in a Facebook group - does Jane's cousin Shane actually know what he's doing?
The most trusted way to find a business has always been word of mouth. 92% of people trust recommendations from people they know. But those recommendations are invisible. They happen in private conversations and disappear.
Why this matters
Word of mouth drives £6 trillion in consumer spending globally. People who come through referrals convert 4 times higher than cold leads. Yet most referrals never happen - not because people don't want to help, but because of timing.
Someone needs a plumber in February. You used a great one in June. They don't think to ask you specifically. You don't think to mention it. The connection never happens. They Google "emergency plumber near me" and hire whoever paid for the top ad.
Meanwhile, businesses doing great work miss out on customers who would have chosen them - if only they'd known.
What we're building
MyTrustList makes word of mouth recommendations visible and searchable.
When you add people you know to your network and businesses you trust, anyone in that network can find those businesses when they need them. No perfect timing required. No "I'll send you his number later" that gets forgotten.
Search for a plumber and see "ABC Plumbing - trusted by Sarah, Mike, and Tom." Three people you actually know. That's a warm introduction, not a cold Google result.
For businesses, it means your clients' entire network becomes discoverable. One client adds you, their 100 contacts can find you. Ten clients add you, you're visible to 1,000 people. Your referrals become searchable.
Where we are now
We're still building. We launched in 2026 and we're starting in Haywards Heath and Mid Sussex, expanding across the UK.
Your network might be small right now. The business you need might not be listed yet. That's okay. Every person who joins makes the platform more valuable for everyone. Every business added helps someone in their network make a better decision.
